Effects of Planting Density of Rubber Tree Clone (RRIM 2020 Clone and RRIM 2025 Clone) Wood to Particleboard Properties

The depletion of log resources encourages research into alternative ways to sustain the wood supply. Therefore, 4-year-old Rubber Research Institute Malaysia (RRIM) clones series, RRIM 2020 and 2025, were chosen as potential raw materials for particleboard in this study. purpose study was assess effects planting density rubber tree on mechanical physical properties single-layer particleboard. densities used low, moderate-low, moderate-high, high, representing 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 trees/ha, respectively. Prior manufacturing, series clone trees harvested, cut, chipped, flaked, screened. evaluated accordance with Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS A 5908-2003). findings revealed that both had a signifi- cant impact thickness 10 mm 700 kg/m3 . specimens low superior modulus elasticity (MOE), rupture (MOR), internal bonding (IB) values 2415, 19, 1.7 MPa, Furthermore, moderate-low demonstrated lowest swelling (TS) water absorption (WA) comparable control from commercial Prang Besar (PB), PB260. In terms clones, met minimum requirements JIS standard outperformed 2025. This recommended 500 trees/ha suitable material manufacturing ten percent urea formaldehyde resin content.
